What is SIL-Nepal?
Health information technology is rapidly growing worldwide, with many health information systems being developed in both government and private sectors. However, lack of interoperability due to the complexity of the healthcare system and the absence of information standards is a major issue.
A health interoperability laboratory is an initiative from MoHP focusing on the interoperability of digital health applications. It is a collaborative space equipped with digital health experts to facilitate the design, development, and testing of various healthcare systems based on globally recognized standards that are interoperable with other information systems.
What do we do ?
SIL-Nepal provides technical support to stakeholders to make healthcare systems interoperable through foundational digital health frameworks, international standards, and emerging technologies (IHE, FHIR, Blockchain, etc.)
SIL-Nepal brings together the highly passionate experts from government, non-government, academic, and private sectors to establish and promote standards and frameworks that enable interoperability among diverse healthcare systems, devices, and data sources.
SIL-Nepal offers a platform for both public and private sectors to replicate healthcare systems and applications, laying the foundation for assessing data exchange quality and system interaction prior to deployment in real-world scenarios.
Vision:
“The vision of SIL-Nepal is to adopt a transformative approach to healthcare technology, where seamless interoperability is the norm rather than the exception. SIL-Nepal envisions a digital health ecosystem, where healthcare systems and applications seamlessly exchange information, enhance efficiency, improve outcomes, and ultimately transform the delivery of health services.
Through cutting-edge digital health applications, we strive to facilitate seamless exchange and dissemination of health data, ensuring interconnected systems that empower informed decision-making and holistic healthcare delivery.”
MISSION
The mission of SIL-Nepal is to provide technical and capacity-building support to related stakeholders in the country in making their digital health systems and applications standards-based and interoperable by fostering communication and collaboration.
